The North East Doctor On-Call Service (NEDOC) for county Meath is relocating back to Navan with effect from Wednesday 24th June 2020.
The new centre, which is located at Unit 2, Academy Square, Academy St., Navan EIRCODE C15 PKX4 is a welcome development for GP out of hours services for Co Meath.
Dr Seamus McMenamin, Chairman of NEDOC said “we are very pleased to return the NEDOC service to Navan. The new unit is bright, easily accessible for patients and is well equipped for the delivery of urgent out of hours GP care to our patients.”
The NEDOC service had moved temporarily to Dunshaughlin until the new centre was completed. It had always been the intention to return the NEDOC service to Navan as soon as possible as it is the most central location for patients throughout in the county.
Patients who need access to urgent out of hours GP care can ring 1850 777 911 where their symptoms will be taken by a call taker and forwarded to a nurse for triage (telephone assessment). Many calls can be managed and completed at nurse triage stage. Where appropriate, the nurse will forward the consultation onto a GP for further advice by telephone or in person if that is necessary. Patients who present to the centre without an appointment will be advised to ring the 1850 777 911 number and will not be seen without an appointment being made.
The NEDOC service is free at the point of care to patients who hold a medical card or a GP Visit card. Patients who do not have an up to date medical card or GP Visit card will be charged a fee for the doctors’ telephone consultation or the face to face appointment if that is necessary.
